Third Mission
Third Mission calls on universities to generate, transmit and regenerate knowledge for economic and social purposes. The aim is to open up to the surrounding socio-economic context by exploiting and transferring knowledge through innovation, technology transfer, lifelong learning and social engagement. Among the Third Mission activities, Spin Off represent a key tool to create new entrepreneurial activity based on an academic research background.
In view of the growing market demand for services based on innovative monitoring technologies for the safety of the territory and infrastructures, in 2009 I founded, together with some colleagues of the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Rome “Sapienza”, the spin-off NHAZCA S.r.l. (acronym for “Natural HAZard Control and Assessment”). Over the last 10 years, contributing to the continuous growth of revenues and skills, thanks to which NHAZCA has established itself nationally and internationally as a reference point for institutions, large companies and managers in the control of the territory and infrastructures.
Among the company’s leading technologies, the SAR Interferometry and the “Photomonitoring” deserve a mention. The latter is an example of a technology born from research at the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Rome “Sapienza” and then became a service of great utility for the market for the control and security of the territory and infrastructures.
Consulting
The mix of skills I have acquired over the last 15 years in the academic, educational, entrepreneurial, professional and institutional areas allows me to effectively support organisations and companies that require specialised technical support in the fields of engineering geology and large-scale works, with particular reference to remote sensing survey methodologies, geotechnical and structural monitoring and management of infrastructure assets.
